This wine comes from a selection of grapes that were sourced from Hartmann’s colleagues.
Since Hartmann’s simple range is made to order, quantities must be ordered before the wine itself is produced. For this reason I still have some of the 2010 vintage, and the new 2012 vintage has now arrived. Why am I saying this? Stainless steel whites from Alto Adige are usually consumed from the latest vintage. This has to do as much with habit as with mediocre quality of wines, which fall apart after a few years. Several of our clients are impressed how delicious the Sauvignon 2010 has become. Kudos to Hartmann.
This wine comes from a selection of grapes that were sourced from Hartmann’s colleagues. It is vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with the use of selected yeasts if necessary. Hartmann does not seek (at this point) to complicate the vinification process. For him and me it’s important that nothing except neutral yeasts and low sulphite levels are added.
In keeping with our philosophy to represent only wines produced from ripe grapes, Hartmann’s Sauvignon is no exception. Thus, do not expect nettle and cat pee tones. Instead this wine shows crisp pear and peach characteristics with a serious, medium complexity body. It has varietal character with mineral tones. The finish is harmonious and of medium length.
